Stains not only come by spillage but also with the dirty feet’s or shoes that we bring from outside. Many people vacuum the carpets and rugs and think that their cleaning process is finished. But actually vacuum is just a way to remove the loose dirt that sits on the rug; it doesn’t help to remove the stains. Stains need an immediate and effective action to keep them from settling in and spoiling the carpet.

Many different types of cleaning agents can be used to treat the stains from carpets ; some are chemical agents while some are home remedies. Carpet cleaners available in the market are made using chemicals that can damage the rug in the long run. So one should avoid using them, instead use the cleaners that are easily available at home. Some very common stains that can occur frequently are Alcohol stain, colas, milk, chocolate, ice creams, gravy, blood, tea, coffee, or even vomit. If these stains, especially blood stains occur, dab them with a clean cloth as soon as you can to absorb the wetness, remember not to rub it as this will force the stain into the depth of the rug and make it difficult to remove. Then make a solution of vinegar and water and spray it on the stain. Then with a clean damp cloth dab the stain again. If the stain doesn’t go at once then repeat the steps again. After this allow the rug to dry properly. If the stain has dried then try and scrap out the dry particles as much as you can manage and then follow the above steps.

Some of these stains can also be removed using bleach and even baking soda. Baking soda is mainly used when people don’t want to use wet treatments. Baking soda allows one to clean the carpet stains without using water; it’s a moisture free method. You just have to sprinkle the baking soda on the stain making a thick layer, leave for few hours and then vacuum it. However it can also be used for wet treatments. You can add baking soda to the carpet shampoo and use it to wash out the stains.

Apart from these agents there are few more things that you can use to treat different stains. Like, to remove the mark of wax or chewing gum you can use ice cube. Press an ice cube against these marks for some time. This will make the wax and gum to harden and then it can be removed properly by pulling. Blood stains  should be tried and removed as soon as possible. If you’re not able to treat them effectively yourself then consider calling for a professional help. This will ensure a long healthy life of your precious rug and carpets
